I follow this forum for some time now, and quite often I find myself searching for the applications mentioned. Some (many) of them have so generic names like "notes".
Looks like all the regulars here know dozens of tools, but I wonder if is there a comprehensive list of links somewhere.
Most lists of "note-taking applications" are, to say the least, stale. Is any of the regulars here compiling an up-to-date list?
I understand it's a job keeping such a list and making it dry and not influenced by preferences...

Wikipedia has a "Comparison of note-taking software", which is probably as good a starting point as any, though it is not great. For example, ConnectedText text is still listed, although it is well past best-by date, and Bear is not listed at all. It's not the only thing missing.
Personally, I think making lists like this is a hopeless task. There can be no objective standards for what to include. Keeping lists up to date is a thankless job.

Paul,
I read that list, and I understand the limits.
Another "reverse" method I use is with AlternativeTo.net site, which is a starting point for similarities; as usual, opinions and reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt, as anything else on the Internet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you can't find a program, ask in the thread and someone will be happy to share a link.
