Org mode is what I use but that’s quite a rabbit hole and will require some setup and learing. Dynalist and Workflowy are fantastic one pane outliners, but if you are actually trying to draft rather than just outline, they are not recommended. Most good outliners for writing are two pane like Scrivener.
Honestly the best one paner for writing I can think of is MS word in outline mode (which is actually pretty solid). However, I don’t have a mac and mac has a ton of apps for writing.
