I’ve noticed that over the last few years Nuance have run frequent “special offers” on upgrades, beyond the initial launch period, so probably one could afford to wait for the reviews.

The Knowbrainer forums (http://www.knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/ - but apparently for some reason offline at the moment) are a reasonable source for up-to-date opinions of recent versions of DNS.
