I’m a long-time user of the outliner (and only the outliner) in EccoPro, so I’ve been paying close interest to the goings on at this site. At Steve Zeoli’s suggestion, I’ve downloaded the trial version of NoteMap from http://www.casesoft.com.
I’m impressed—it does almost all the things I’m addicted to in EccoPro and a handful of things (e.g., hoisting, folding, locking, file attachment) that I hadn’t known I wanted. So far, I’ve found no downside.
I also have a question: There’s a lot of talk about Grandview on this site, but I’ve seen none about EccoPro. Can anyone confirm for me that they do essentially the same thing? I think I’ve even read somewhere that Grandview became EccoPro’s outliner before EP went into limbo. Or maybe what I’m remembering is that PC Outline (my first outliner) became Grandview before GV went into limbo.
Whatever their family trees, I can’t imagine life without one of these applications. That may be a little sick, but I take it we’re all in this ward together. Once I actually find the right product—and NoteMap looks like the one—I can turn to the business of sharing my addition with my students.
Thanks for all the suggestions,
Jerry Wetlaufer
