Hi,
A couple of weeks ago I was searching around on the Web and I came across a piece of trial outlining software that is the closest thing I've found yet to Grandview for Windows. It is called NoteMap and it is from a company that makes software for lawyers called Case Soft. You can go to their Web sit at www.casesoft.com and download a trial version. It works much the same as Grandview, and offers hoisting and folding options. I've been very impressed so far and thought you all might be interested.

Thanks for this info, Steve. I just downloaded the software and it looks pretty good. I'll use it for the next few days and check it out!

I'm a long-time user of the outliner (and only the outliner) in EccoPro, so I've been paying close interest to the goings on at this site. At Steve Zeoli's suggestion, I've downloaded the trial version of NoteMap from www.casesoft.com.
I'm impressed -- it does almost all the things I'm addicted to in EccoPro and a handful of things (e.g., hoisting, folding, locking, file attachment) that I hadn't known I wanted. So far, I've found no downside.
I also have a question: There's a lot of talk about Grandview on this site, but I've seen none about EccoPro. Can anyone confirm for me that they do essentially the same thing? I think I've even read somewhere that Grandview became EccoPro's outliner before EP went into limbo. Or maybe what I'm remembering is that PC Outline (my first outliner) became Grandview before GV went into limbo.
Whatever their family trees, I can't imagine life without one of these applications. That may be a little sick, but I take it we're all in this ward together. Once I actually find the right product -- and NoteMap looks like the one -- I can turn to the business of sharing my addition with my students.
Thanks for all the suggestions,

Will MaxThink (Windows version) or GrandView (Windows version)
or CaseSoft import outlines from ThinkTank?
