I’m new to this group, so if you have already discussed Zoot software, I apologize. But Zoot may be what you are looking for. The builder calls it a personal information processor. It’s great for sucking information from the web or other sources, classifying and organizing it. It also features columns. I am not familiar with InControl, so can only guess if Zoot even comes close to it, but you can see for yourself at the Zoot web site: http://www.zootsoftware.com
