Glad to find this group. I was giving some advice in comp.sys.mac.system about outliners for note-taking, and found this site for dowloads. Great.
I wrote a 1.2 MB document called “Cyphernomicon”...not to be confused with Neal Stephenson’s “Cryptonomicon.” Mine was released in 1994, his in the past year or two. My version is findable with Web search tools. Not in MORE format…some kind student HTML-ized it some years back.
Though I was always confused by the style sheets and such for slide presentations (I usually applied various sheets and fiddled with the overrides until things sort of worked), it was the outline mode I found so natural. For about a year I lived and breathed the writing, cloning, collapsing, and other such tools.
I never understood why the FrameMaker folks never figured it out, that writing large documents really calls for a good outliner. One of the most ironic things I ever saw was one of the early books on FrameMaker where the author said he did the original text for his book in MORE before converting it to Frame! Talk about an endorsement, and an embarassment.
Anyway, glad to see this forum. Let’s all push for MORE to be updated and perhaps even commercially released.
“MORE, more than ever!”
