One thing that occured to me: I’ve dabbled with UserLand Frontier’s environment. What could be cooler than combining a outliner with a database? It would be interesting to see an outliner that could create and publish web pages. UserLand’s approach is more geared to technical aspects of scripting a website.

How nice it would be to create a website in outline form and then export it to a full website with pages based on various outline levels. Of course, web pages have circular referencing, which outlines inherently do not.

Anyway, that’s my two cents worth of discussing the future of outliners. I look forward to hearing other’s comments.
