Welcome Back MORE!

I stumbled across this site looking for old Mac hardware.
I first used a Macintosh in 1987 as a film intern. It was a Mac512KE and the first program I used was ThinkTank. Shortly thereafter we upgraded to MORE.

Having never really used a computer before, I had nothing for comparing MORE, but it convinced me that computers were cool tools for aiding in the thinking process.

Since then, I have been awed by many programs, but I have never stopped using MORE. I was shocked to find a website devoted to outliners, and someone out there extolling the virtues of this little program which has long since been forgotten by the general populace.

I use MORE to keep budgets and to write short stories and organize a humongous outline for a novel. I also use it for a To Do list, for calls, you name it.

As for the future of outliners, I have seen nothing as elegant as MORE, and I do look out for new outliners from time to time. Word's is clumsy at best. IdeaLine was too simple, etc. I still think most people would switch to an outliner if they were introduced to one, and there are just none out there to do the job.

Anyway, I will check back to see what others have to say. It would be nice to talk to someone who still uses this amazingly versatile program, since I have not found anyone who knew what it was for THIRTEEN YEARS!!!

Hello Zac

I agree with you that MORE is one of the best tools I've ever used - in fact I use it still on a daily basis for course planning, general writing etc.It is the coolest outliner and esp. the user interface is great. And as you say - thirteen years is many generations in this internet age and this program still runs great under the current version of MacOS (9.x). But MacOS X spells doom for MORE I understand, as the 68K-emulator software that MORE depends on will not be available in this version. Too bad - I'll probably have to retire MORE to the software hall of fame. It was a product that really made a difference to me - so many possibilities, so many interface details.

Well, I could go on rambling for ages about MORE - but I won't.

Good to know at least two people on the planet still use this gem.

You beat me by three years!

There are dedicated MORE users out there. But what really knocks my socks off are:
* the fact that it still runs on Os 9.0.4
* things inside (like recognizing the user & the clock) Claris did not implement in their products for a while... Dave must've been reading well into the OS specs...
