Is More 3.1 available in an Windows 95 version ?
I used to use PC Outline in the late 80's, and crude though it
no doubt was compared to More, it served a vital purpose to me.
I downloaded Treetext 1.1.0 the other day; besides refusing to
run after installation, I'm not filled with optimism after looking at the
demo stuff on their web site.
I read the suggestion here that Outliner people are a class on their own, and after long believing & hoping that purveyors of information
at large were really quite normal - just dozing for the moment - I
reluctantly have to agree. Just compare the appearance of the page
and form I'm typing into here, with the average web page or Microsoft
output. Clarity, light & a total absence of obscuring nonsense on the one hand; murk, clever-dickery & God knows what else on the other.
I'm getting carried away. My apologies.
I need an outliner for Windows 95, in short. Can anyone help me ?
Regards

I sure don't know of one out there that has the functionality of a GrandView, PC Outline, or MaxThink. The bottom line is that I have to escape to DOS every time I need to outline something. As diehard as we outline users are, there just aren't enough of us to convince anybody to write a Windows Outliner just for us.

I'm currently using Jot+Notes on my PC <www.kingstairs.com>, and ThoughtMill on my Palm Vx <www.handshigh.com>.
I'm actually looking for an outliner that'll synch between my Palm and my PC... which is why I'm considering InfoSelect <www.miclog.com> and BrainForest <www.aportis.com>.
Anyone have any experience with these products? BrainForest is only about $40, while InfoSelect is $170 (mostly because you have to buy the Palm and PC versions separately)... But it does seem that InfoSelect just does more stuff. Hm. Is great puzzlement. :)

I just returned InfoSelect (IS) under its 60-day guarantee policy.
The most unique feature I found was that you can create multiple,
separate IS files, and open any or all of them in the IS program and
also search for text in any or all of them via one search query.
My difficulties with it are
1) its limited formatting capabilities. It even eliminates some
formatting of text that one pastes into it. For example, if I have
subscripts or superscripts in a Word file and I wish to paste that
text into IS, the subscript and superscript formatting is lost in IS.
2. The *.crd import didn't work properly for me
3.The upgrade price for recent purchasers is ridiculous. I purchased
IS ver 5 on 7/7. There is now a version 6 beta (http://www.miclog.com/is/6/info.htm ,
http://www.miclog.com/is/6/beta.htm ). To upgrade with the 50%
discount for being a RECENT purchaser the total price would be as
much as purchasing Ver6 directly, and even more if I wait a couple of
weeks to do it.
4. A new beta version of Skwyrul is close to being released for
testing. I haven't been using it because the current version is
missing a couple of features I need, but I expect the new version to
be great, and it's careware. ( http://www.asw.ndirect.co.uk ) Note:
The secret to its power is in the right mouse button.
5. Farther out on the horizon is Ver 3.0 of Jot+, another very
worthwhile contender. See www.kingstairs.com
6. Agenda fans should check out Zoot (www.zootsoftware.com).
