I’ve mentioned this at my ETP site, but I wanted to post it here.

This is the paper by Tom Erickson, formerly of Apple’s Advanced Technology Group or Human Interface scientists, which got me started on the whole Newton, PIM, outliner quest.

If you’ll read the paper you’ll note the problem he originally intended to solve with Proteus he later solved using an outliner.

WebArranger, or as I prefer the original appellation, Arrange, appears to be the realization of Erickson’s original intent. Though it is by no means perfect.

The paper is still a great read because we’re still wrestling with this whole notion. At least I am.
