I use WebArranger for my addresses, calendar and to-do lists. The difficulty saving files under Mac OS 9 was explained to me at WWDC 2000. If your disk is formatted as HFS+ and uses certain block sizes, you can’t save. If it uses other block sizes, it can save. As a result, when I try to save my WebArranger files on my gigantic external SCSI drives, I can’t. but when I try to save them on my PowerBook, no problem. It apparently (this is strictly surmise on my part) has something to do with the author’s thinking he could write more efficient SCSI code than Apple, but he got outflanked by Apple’s changing the way block size is handled in HFS+. One workaround is to save your WebArranger files on a Zip disk; the block size will handle WebArranger files just fine.
