Basically, you keep a compound index field, such that each record has an identifier plus a parent identifier, and do a self-join on the compound identifier.
I’ve been doing Filemaker for years, but this stumped me… How do you create the unique index? And what’s a “self-join?”
I’ve created a kludgey Filemaker system that assigns a level and a “category”—and I create the indentation by overlaying fields on top of each other. Very clunky… and it would seem that someone must have written some more sophisticated routines.
Any ideas? - Richard
