<1. Where the Note becomes selected as the result of clicking on the square button icon, or moving the Note. When selected by this means, pressing the Delete key causes the contents of the Note to disappear.>
I wasn’t aware of this feature. When you select a note qua note and then hit the delete key, Notemap treats the selection as if you had dragged over the text. I’m glad I know about this feature now. I find it a clever way to allow the user to easily select all the text in a row by leveraging the power of the outliner’s favored selection mode.
I think this is the sort of thing that partly answers your original question about whether NoteMap can justify much enthusiasm—NoteMap’s attention to the details of outlining. We all will agree and disagree with some of NoteMap’s design choices, but a feature like this leaves me with little doubt that the developer had reasons for most of NoteMap’s way of doing things. Using the program generally leaves users with a favorable experience, even if it’s hard to justify. One can be impressed with the small details without actually noticing them.
My experience with Inspiration, by the way, is the opposite. It seems an able outliner, but something seems to make it not a lot of fun to use. Well, you aren’t supposed to have fun in school!
