I just discovered a note taking application I haven't come across before. It's called Citation 9, and it comes from thewritedirection.net.

It has a bibliographic manager and a note taking module. The notes are automatically linked to the present reference, and you can attach keywords and have the notes sorted according e.g. to these. You can print out a variety of lists etc., and it integrates with Word.

Apparently, the bibliographic manager can't download references from web of science etc., which makes it of limited value to me. However, the note taking module looks interesting.

I couldn't see that it has been discussed here before. Do anybody have experiences with this software? I stumbled over it when looking for a dated program Oberon Notebook II+.

Peter,

I have a copy of Citation 8, which I upgraded from Citation 7.

Its a nice program, and I like it a lot. Citation 9 comes with a portable version that goes on a USB stick and the downloading from web based bibliogaphic data bases is new to version 9 so will no doubt be expanded.

However, technical support is pretty well non-existent. Non one ver replies to the web support forum and no one ever replies from their technical support.

It was never very good, but now it just doesn't seem to exist.

Its a great shame as it has the makings of being a very useful program.

I don't actually use it any more.
