Jack,
I will be interested in hearing your opinion of Idea Cruncher. I looked at it breifly a week or so ago. Here are my hastily gathered thoughts on it: Essentially, it is a very simplified tree-based notes organizer with the addition of an RTF document associated with each outline. Initially I was intrigued by this… create your outline, then refer to it as you are composing your text in the RTF document. But then I wondered how this is effectively different than just keeping your outline open in one window and writing in Word or any other word processor. Is there an advantage to having the draft document an integral part of your outline? I could see that there would be if the pieces were better integrated—as in Liquid Story Binder. There is a certain attraction to Idea Cruncher’s simplicity, however. It sort of strips the writing process down to its basics without a lot of bells and whistles.
If this approach appeals to you, you might want to also look at Text Tree (http://www.babykatiemedia.com/texttree/) which has the same simplicity, but seems to me to have better integration.
