I think Thornsoft directed many of the changes in Clipmate 7 toward this problem. (A later minor update will implement rules too.) Clipmate now has a toolbar that sits in the Windows TaskBar. From the Clipmate Toolbar one of the sub-directories can be easily selected as active, or from another control in the same toolbar, you can select a clip from the current directory. (Personally, I like this better than rules, because I’m unable to compose a rule that would correctly classify my clips.) Another innovation is virtually folders by date. These cross-classify clips that enter either another created folder or the basic indox.

I previously mentioned Parallaxis WinClip, but with these innovations, I think ClipMate is probably more efficient. Haven’t decided for sure.
