What’s a ‘splitter window’?

It’s hard to say what motivates people to stay with a product in a given case. Do most people look beyond the interface? I think it has to depend on the product category. The more complex the product, the less important the appearance of the interface. Ergonomics are a different matter, but I’ll wait till you inform me of the meaning above.

I haven’t surfulator. I’m sure one reason is I don’t like the name, which to my ear is silly and geekish. I wonder if tastes in interfaces vary as much as tastes in names?
