If I may enter the discussion here - who cares, whether a program is outdated or not state of the art, if it does, what it is supposed to do? InfoHandler is a wonderful piece of software (though I am still using Version 8), that handles all the various texts and snippets I find on the web without any errors so far.
Maybe it won’t win a price for beauty or elegance (you mentioned 16 bit colours, drag and drop, font pickers etc..) - but it just does its job. Same for Personal Knowbase. I even use Aibase and BrainStorm, which seem to ignore just any state of the art what so ever - but again: they do what they are supposed to do.
Concerning the state we are all in - it’s all about looks and appearance nowadays, smiling faces everywhere with nothing remarkable beneath the surface. Same for many programs you see on the web - many half working features without any real use. To me it’s all “dinky”. I prefer the meat, not the skin.
