I had similar problems with ndxCards v1.93 when I downloaded it for evaluation - both when trying to install the *msi file or the *.zip one. The program seemed to install properly both times, but when I tried to open it, it complained about there being a corrupted database file. Uninstalling, manually deleting leftover files and registry entries, and reinstalling did not help.
The company helpfully directed me to download an evaluation of their v1.94beta, and this installed and ran without any problem. It might be worth contacting them if you had a problem evaluating the earlier version.
