Hello, all.
I read about this program on the Literary Machine forum and tried it out. Surprisingly, it offers what feels to me as a unique approach to note-taking and composition. Imagine a spreadsheet in which each cell could be a full-blown RTF document. So you can basically build tables of notes. This feels extra dimensional to me. The author seems to have built this program for personal use and decided to share it with everyone free. It is a sophisticated idea in an unsophisticated package. I suppose one can do something similar with Writer's Blocks, though without the formal structure. It is a single, executible file, so it runs just fine on a thumb drive, making it a nice choice for hauling your notes around with you. I have not used it enough to know how dependable it is -- that is, how safe you data is. Even if you decide not to use this program, it is worth a look to see that there are occasionally new ideas out there.

P.S. Happy birthday, Steve Cohen!

Thanks, Steve. I'd d/l v2E in early 2004 but forgotten I had it on my HDD (another symptom of CRIMP). It's nice to know the program is still being developed - I had thought it was a one-off experiment. I'll take a look at the new version.
Incidentally, two messages on other topics I posted yesterday (or was it early this morning?) on outliners.com after it came back on line now seem to have disappeared again.
