Steve, this isn’t a feature that I use, but here is the definition from the IH help file: “You can declare some Categories to be ìslavesî (SlaveCategories) of other Categories (MasterCategories) with the effect that they are always and only assigned to an InfoItem if one of their ìmastersî is assigned to the InfoItem.

“If you declare a Category a SlaveCategory you cannot assign it directly to an InfoItem anymore, it can only assigned indirectly through assignment of one of its masters. Consequently a SlaveCategory without at least one master is useless.”
