Stephen:
What seems completely irrational, though, is the expectation that development resources be directed to integrating with Firefox instead of or in addition to IE, because Firefox plainly is not _that_ much better. Certainly not when MS has taken stock of the vulnerabilities in Windows, plans to lock down the next IE in the hardware, and provide tabs that will probably be better than Firefox’s.
I think you should forgive consumers who have chosen Firefox for not being prepared to wait years and years for MS to tske stock of long-established vulnerabilities, and to introduce features that Firefox and Opera has had for…well, years.
What is the basis for saying IE will probably do tabs better than Firefox? Is that a rationale statement, or a kind of boosterism that, if seen in a Firefox fan would earn your ridicule?
Re the speed tests, Firefox has appeared to be faster on my system since before 1.5.
When I run FF I seldom, if ever, have any new spyware on my system.
But, all I have to do is run IE for an afternoon, and it’s feeding time for my spy chasing software.
I think it makes sense for developers to integrate with Firefox—it makes some of their customers happy, and it sends a message to MS that people aren’t 100 percent dependent on IE.
