You’re probably aware of this, but certain tricks make it a little easier to navigate the tree. But there is a cost in extra keystrokes, and if you are traveling around a lot, it might not be worth it. The main “trick” is to collapse the entire tree before navigating. (Right click on the root; also can be accomplished with a couple of keystrokes).

Also I find a liberal use of Favorites adventageous.
