Stephen, I don’t think it is fair to say Firefox is being used “mainly because it is free.” Remember that none of us ever paid for IE either; it came as standard equipment.
Further, Opera is also free, but it doesn’t have nearly the following that Firefox does.
Yes, Firefox has had security isswues, but nothing compared with IE.
I think that Firefox is generally faster than IE, and certainly faster than Opera a lot of the time, although Opera boasts to be the fastest browser in the world.
Some people may use Firefox as an anti-MS symbol, but many people, myself included, used it because it is generally faster, safer, and more stable than IE.
Re making products compatible with Firefox—my understanding is that Firefox is attempting to make itself more compatible with industry standards than IE has been in past.
It is also interesting that IE is adopting the tab feature that has been around for years and years in Firefox and Opera.
Now that I understand what Launchy is, and how it works, I agree with you that Kinook need not spend time developing its own Firefox integration wheel.
What I wish Kinook had done was be more clear about the change in its approach to Firefox, and to have presented Launchy clearly as *the* integration, not as something that perhaps a few people were playing around with. As a former corporate communicator I fault Kinook on the communication process. The decision, in retrospect, to go with Launchy makes sense.
And yes, Stephen, I agree with you 100 per cent about the need for hoisting, and hoisting sooner rather than later.
I am not sure what broke IE on my system. I thought it was ADM, and attempted to get a response with regard to that possibility, but unfortunately the technical folk were, I was told, too busy to attend to that query of mine because of continuing development of ADM 4 and its Skype capability.
I really at this point do not know what broke IE on my system. I did uninstall and then reinstall ADM, and that made no difference. Finally, by playing around with Windows font settings and restarting my computer a few times I got the IE problems to correct themselves—except on a couple of programs: Surfulater and Evernote.
I can tell you that at present ADM 4 has the best IE based browser that I have seen in any product.
