I am glad to say that after my last post, I received an answer on the Kinnook forum from the UR developer. He pointed out that the code I was using for Launchy was incomplete, and directed me to use the download version Kinook had attached to the posting.

I used it, and now Launchy provides what essentially is a full integration with Firefox for Ultra Recall.

I wish it had been clearer from get-go what Launchy offered, and that we should only download the Launchy file attached to the forum, and not Launchy from the Firefox extensions page, the url of which also appeared in UR forum posts.

I do think that if Kinook had been clearer about the change in its roadmap, communicating why, because there was an alternative that provided essentially the same thing, it would have been better. Also, it was not obviously clear to me, perhaps because I wasn’t reading carefully enough, that the Launch file attached to the forum posts was what should be downloaded, and that there was no reason to go to the Firefox extension page. The presence of the page’s url was in fact a red herring.
