Symantec used to have a nice approach to this “project plan as outline” paradigm. Outlines in Grandview 2.0 could be exported to a TimeLine 5.x for DOS format and seamlessly imported into the project planner, both of which were published by Symantec. I used to find this much easier for organizing and revising tasks before assigning resources and dependencies. Ironically, Timeline for DOS is still available, though no longer through Symantec, while Grandview is no longer available at all. Too bad, because the synergy was attractive and, notwithstanding the demands of my clients for Microsoft Project plans, I still prefer working with TimeLine.
