Thanks for your suggstions. You are absolutely right, that the perfect thing would be something which kept the context in which it was entered (the meeting, the reference, etc), while also enabling tagging individual notes within this.

I just took (another) look at OneNote after reading your suggestions. First of all, ON only allows 9 tags, and it is (of course) not possible to make hierarchies. This seriously limits the usefulness in relation to categorisation. Especially for an info container that you want to throw all you notes into. Also, I don’t find the overall concept and user interface of ON suitable for this kind of info store task. I really more see it as a tablet companion.

I’ll look at The Journal.
