Speaking of Greek…
I have a colleague whose parents emigrated from Greece to US. He speaks fluent Greek. We were in Brussels looking for a Belgian restaurant. Finally, he asked a couple if they knew where it was. They said, “No,” and then the man said to the woman, in a non-english language, “They don’t know what they’re talking about.” My companion responded in perfect Greek, “You’re right!” The three of them then started speaking Greek nonstop. All I could say was, “For the first time in my life, I can honestly say, ‘This is all Greek to me!’”
We never did find any Belgian restaurants, but we did find several Greek ones. Also the non-english language we heard most often was Greek. I’ve decided that Brussels is actually a northern province of Greece.
