A quick question:
What is the best way to search multiple Brainstorm models? Can it be done in one action?
None of the indexers that I know recognise the BRN format.
TIA

As far as I can tell, Brainstorm models preserve the text entries intact; in theory then, one should be able to index/search Brainstorm files as if they were text files, as long as the indexer can be convinced/tricked to treat them as text files. Finding the actual search text's position within a model is another issue.
So, I would suggest (step 1) trying out your favourite indexer for finding which model has the text string you are looking for and then (step 2) searching within that model with Brainstorm itself.

Not exactly an indexer, but Zoot searches Brainstorm models.
On my models, Zoot finds text at the instant I type the letters.
It also allows you read the text in the models (only first 32K) and organise the models by subject using keywords in the text and generally manage them in concert with other related files.
And of course Zoot will let you open the full model in Brainstorm.
It works well.
DTSearch also searches BRN files.
I am surpised that the other search engines don't work, both Zoot and DTSearch pull out the text from every file I have ever tried, regardlesss of extension.
However, I have found Larry's text file extender www.trivex.net that will tell Gooogle desktop to ignore the file extension and treat the file like a *.txt file. No idea if it will work with *.BRN files but it looks as if it should.

As recently mentioned in the Brainstorm forum, Copernic searches native BrainStorm files.

In Copernic choose Options/Advanced add *.brn and Text document for indexing type.

Wilbur ( http://wilbur.redtree.com/ ), which is free, can also search Brainstorm models, as long as you include the .brn extension in its indexing list.
