Hello All,
I was wondering if somebody could help me choose an outliner/PIM program.
I’ve tested all the usual suspects, like Brainstorm, TreePad, UR, Zoot and so on, but still haven’t found the perfect one for my needs.
Here are some of the features that I need (in no particular order):
1. A tree-based outline in the left pane with a corresponding right pane, i.e. clicking on a node in the tree opens the related page/document (not sure about the terminology) in the left pane. Attachments would also be nice.
2. I would like to be able to format (fonts, colors, icons) the tree nodes.
3. I would like the right pane to support RTF-style formatting. Also, it’s very important for me to be able to build tables easily.
4. Web/image capture.
5. Export data into .txt, .csv and .html
6. Import from the same file types (.txt, .csv and .html)?
7. Ability to print the tree by itself.
8. Ticklers/email reminders associated with the tree-nodes.
9. Password protection.
I now I’m reaching here but anyway… I would like to somehow be able to visually note the conditionality of the nodes in the tree. For example,
Node A has two children: A.1 and A.2. A.1 also has two children but they are mutually exclusive, depending on the value in A.1. I don’t need the conditional nodes to magically appear/disappear based on the value of A.1. I just want to somehow note that they are in fact conditional and mutually exclusive.
Also, does anybody know of a web-base system that’s hosted by somebody? I do realize that type of solution will require a monthly payment. Alternatively, if I use the system from two different computers, would I be able to synchronize date in some fashion?
Thanks in advance for your help!
