Yes, actually I had read about it in outliners.com many a time ago. It’s what prompted me to follow the Chandler project, only to find out, as Daly has recently mentioned, that it will be quite a while before it’s a usuable tool.
I like it that vintage programs are available, including the first spreadheet! I must note though, that the most innovative of them don’t work with Greek.
The first time I got interested in freeform databases was with the first version of Blackwell’s IdeaList, in the early 90’s. Unfortunately, its nice looking graphical user interface couldn’t display Greek characters.
Many other programs I got from magazines and used, like the Alpha Four database, had trouble with particular letters, as they used extended ASCII codes, i.e. over 127, for internal functions; it was—hmmm- interesting trying to get them to work.
I skipped Windows 3.1 because I didn’t find they offered anything additional and only made systems slower and crash-prone; however, even in Windows XP I have found programs that don’t work properly with Greek characters even though the underlying OS has no trouble!
