Just to conclude this. I have now bought JCVGantt and TimeLinemaker.
I like the two way interaction with Mind Manager and JCVGantt. This provides a good way of pulling together most of my programs.
MindManager gives two way sync for tasks and appointments with MindManager. Brainstorm Models can be pasted into Mind Manager. Mindmanger has two sync with JCVGantt and the JCVGantt project info costs/time etc can be exported to Excel.
Although, JCVGantt will work as a stand alone program, if you don’t want the MindManager link then I think its fairly poor value for money ($125 reduced to £99 at the moment), with other programs that were suggested offering lower prices and more features. Mind you Version 2 of JCVGantt is out in September so I may revise that view.
TimeLinemaker ($30)looks excellent, it was really the need to produce a Timeline and not being happy with SmartDraw and Concept Draw, that set me off on this search.
For the task in hand of producing a time line for bat survey work that has been completed over the last ten years (on a specific project), detailing the different types of surveys, when and where they were undertaken, and when the reports were published, it looks ideal.
I have had to do this sort of exercise in the past, initially fiddling about trying to create Gantt charts in MSProject, and eventually just drawing them in Excel, SmartDraw would be better than Excel for this, butI wish I had found TimeLineMaker years ago.
