I sent an e-mail with the question for Zoot 5 last week to Tom Davis.
This is his answer:

“Zoot has been around since 1995. I intend to continue developing it. Currently I’m porting the code base over to an updated programming language. This is a large project with many variables, so I can’t predict when version 5 will be ready.”
