I sent an e-mail with the question for Zoot 5 last week to Tom Davis.
This is his answer:
"Zoot has been around since 1995. I intend to continue developing it. Currently I'm porting the code base over to an updated programming language. This is a large project with many variables, so I can't predict when version 5 will be ready."

Unfortunately, Tom has been saying something similar since about 1995 !! With the "next" release sorting out the 32k limitation and provide RTF.
I hope I am wrong, but I think you have to assess Zoot on what it does now, and not live in hope of a new version any time soon :-(
