I own NoteMap and will probably use your system of making NM the intermmediate step to Word when necessary. But I generally stop worrying about the outline once I’m ready to compose, so I just use the “write to clipboard” facility in BS and paste the plain text into Word. Actually, I often paste it into NoteTab to do my writing, since it presents such a clean interface and I like writing with plain text. It would be helpful if BS included an option to add a line break between paragraphs when exporting.

Glad to, but it isn’t very exciting. I don’t do a lot of intensive time management (i.e. not into GTD). I use Brainstorm to create a list of all my ongoing projects. Under each project listing I state the current status and the next step. I then sort the projects by current importance. When I find myself in a quandry for what to do next, I just refer to this list and work my way through it, updating information as needed and tackling tasks as I am able. Not fancy, but it seems to work for me. I am lucky that I don’t bill for my time or have a boss that requires careful scrutiny of how I spend my work time (otherwise, I probably wouldn’t have time to respond to Outliners.com!).
