I agree that the topics within the list go well beyond a narrow definition of outliners, and I think this is good. People with an interest in outliners, are really interested in tools to deal with a specific range of tasks, and these encompass all sort of software which we obviously all share common interests in. I was not suggesting we only discuss Outliners on this list.
Additionally, with the versatility of software, it is dificult to easily attach a label to it.
I do however, have a general concern, not just about this fairly trivial example, that as we become less critical of the precise meanings of words, we lose the ability to express the meaning of what we are trying to say.
Words are all too often used because they sound good, regardless of what they mean, or because if some marketing decision. I am always very concerned a company produces the “ultimate” PIM, with the knowledge that this title labels the end of any further development on the program.
