There is no windows program that has the outlining power of DOS PC Outline. At least, no one in this forum seems to know of one. The Windows program “Inspiration” does a pretty good job of translating GrandView outlines into Inspiration outlines, so I expect it to do the same for PCO. Inspiration, however, is clumsier to use than PCO. Here’s how to do the conversion:

To import a GV file into Inspiration 7.5:

In GV,

Expand the entire outline [“expand everything”].
Change the outline labeling to “Indentation w/no Labels.”
Mark (highlight) the entire outline
Export the file using the “Paragraph” export option.
Add the ” .txt” extension to the exported file name.

In Inspiration,

Open the exported file.
The Inspiration outline should have virtually the same structure as the GV outline, with perhaps only a little touch-up necessary.

(Multiple paragraphs in one PCO outline item will become separate items in I.)
