There is one program that has diagramming capability similar to mind mappers and has meta data. It is called Mind Pad (http://www.mind-pad.com). It is a .NET-based program and is a bit difficult to figure out at first because it seems to have separate applications (or modules, maybe) for designing a mind map template, and then actually assembling the map. I know I didn’t describe that adequately; maybe you have to see it to understand. It has very limited connectors and boxes to define your nodes, and doesn’t make great use of the computer screen real-estate. But the meta data concept makes it somewhat interesting and unique.
