Graham,
I think Notemap is a terrific program. It has most of the key outlining features. One thing it lacks is inline text… that is, every item is treating like a topic. (In GrandView, text could be added as a part of any topic, and would move around with that topic wherever you put it.) I think Stephen Diamond has a few other quibbles with it that I don’t recall off the top of my head. For me it is a great program. That being said, I find I don’t use it as much as I would have expected, especially since I found Brainstorm. But I don’t tend to need to format text until the final stages of writing, and by then I’m in the word processor.
If NoteMap 3 (assuming there is one someday) adds meta data to each topic and provides for inline text, then it will be darn near GrandView and I might not need many other programs.
