Daly,
I have played around a bit with Knowledge Workshop and my overall feeling is like yours: There’s is more sizzle than steak.
First, it is not an outliner even if some parts of this application look like this. But you are not completly free to create your own outline structure.
You have two structures to maintain: The subject area and the topic area. If you select a subject then you see all related topics in the topic area. This makes it very difficult for me to organize the content because I don’t know always properly if a piece of information is a subject or a topic. Further, you can assossiate any item with another item in the assossiation area. You can describe all links very detailed.
GW allows opening notes, files and webpages in tabs. Websites are opened with a stripped down version of the Interent Explorer (like in ADM).
It is not a bad tool and it has its highlights but the price of $ 149 is still too high. I am missing a Metadata and Keyword system like ADM provides.
KW includes discussions and newsgroups.
I think it is worth to take a look at this tool just to know what’s going on. There different Flash movies on the website who show the functionality of KW.
