Print out from TreePad in outline view

I'm quite satisfied with using TreePad Business Ed., but what I do miss is the ability to print out the outline according to the tree structure. Even more convenient would be the ability to export to Word, keeping the levels from the outline, converting them to heading styles in Word, so you could continue working with it there, and print it out.

Is there any way of getting any of these things to work? It tried to export to XML and import that into word, but the levels are just shown with tags, and not "interpreted" and shown as levels in an outline. I see that TreePad also exports in the OPML format. Could I alternative import it in another (free) outliner that is able to print out the outline?

Regards,
Peter.

Peter,

This is exactly the feature I am missing in all PIMs and outlining tools. The only application with the requested feature is as I know MindManager X5. I know it is not an outliner but it allows to export a MindMap into Word and the user can assign a header style to each level of the MindMap.

ADM 3 (http://www.adm21.net/ allows to export a tree structure with or without the notes into Word but without applying styles to the headers. All headers of all levels are writtn in the same font.

If anybody knows an outliner with the requsted functionality described by Peter I am very interested to get a link.

Thank you!

Dominik

I am not familiar with Notemap, suggested by Stephen, but all other "classic" two-pane outliners I have tried can't reproduce the tree/outline on paper.

By contrast, all "graphic outliners" i.e. mind mappers, that I've tried can. This includes MindManager which was already suggested, MindGenius and the open source Freemind.

If you don't mind the radial mind map view, which is in fact a space-efficient rendering of a hierarchical outline, I would try exporting to Freemind. Provided you can produce a tabbed indented text outline, it's as easy as copy/paste or save to/import.

Freemind can print directly or export to a variety of printable formats, including JPEG & PNG that can then be inserted into Word and Powerpoint for additional annotation if you so wish.

Hi again
I just found an application for conversation from Treepad files to Word. It's a macro, but I can't get it to work. Has anybody else tried this?

HJT to Word Converter
Freeware MS Word macro to convert TreePad .hjt files into an MS Word document.
Download: hjt2wordconverter.zip (17 Kb).
