Warm thanks for the flow of suggestions; there seems to be quite a lot to try out.
What I found most impressive was the availability of such time tracking features in tools I had already tried, i.e. Ecco, without noticing.
I think this, in part, relates to the significant subjectivity often witnessed when choosing software; I for one, may take very little time to test a piece of software, which leads to rather superficial verdicts. Suffice it to say that I tried Brainstorm 3 times before I decided it actually did something useful for me and now it’s my creative tool of choice.
Re time reporting, I think the most simple solution suggested, i.e. time stamping, might be the most practical as it’s the easiest to implement. In addition, it can be a cross-platform solution. Many PIMs provide a time stamp function and if they don’t, I can always add it with a macro utility.
This requires a bit of extra work at the end but I can live with that. I’ll probably set up an Excel sheet to calculate individual sessions’ duration and then add them up.
Notwithstanding, I think I’ll suggest some kind of time tracking metadata, in the lines of Personal Brain, at the UltraRecall forum; after all, it’s set to become my PIM of choice in the new season.
Thanks again
