Ironically, perhaps, I believe that the free version of Treepad is a more interesting and useful program than the shareware versions. Granted, it doesn’t have any of the power of the shareware versions, but it is a very handy utility for the following reasons:
1. It operates from a single executable file, which means you can carry it with you on a USB drive.
2. It has a nimble, plain text editor that is much more user friendly that the shareware versions (this is a personal preference, I acknowledge).
3. It has several tools for cleaning up text.
4. It is free, so I can install it on colleagues’ computers and share data with them easily.
5. It is extremely stable.
Anyway, I use Treepad Lite fairly often, though more as a utility than as a PIM.
