I'd be ecstatic to find something that duplicated the flexibility of Framework for a current platform - I think it's still I alive, I remember finding a web page once from the folks who keep it going. Interesting history, written by David Carr, driven into the ground by Ashton-Tate, etc.
The first commercial OOP app, too, maybe, as I remember the history.

Wow. I've been trying for years to remember the name 'Framework'. I knew of it as a classic example of a terrific product that met a bitter end; but had forgotten the name.
That would be a use for all those 286 machines out there with amber monitors -- run Framework. (Of course you'd have to set the date back a bit, but they'd be usable.)
I have a Whole Earth Software Catalog at home (which probably mentions Framework, I wasn't looking THAT hard) from the early 1980s. That was truly a Golden Age of innovation and excellence. I will staunchly resist comparisons to the Age of Microsoft.
MORE 3.1, of course, was a child of the Golden Age. First thing tonight I'll be updating my MORE/GrandView orphan web page to point to this site. (http://www.labmed.umn.edu/~john/more/index.html
I wonder if, in some small way, that page helped stimulate Dave and Brad's work on returning an old version of MORE to the world ...
Now to convince Apple to fix the menu problems with MORE 3.1 on 8.6
