You asked:
“Dominik, what are your criteria for using UltraRecall rather than ADM?”
The main reason I do not switch from ADM to Ultra Recall is because I am very familiar with ADM. Further, ADM has some little features I don’t want to miss: Sending webclippings to any topics in any ADM file, formating features on the pages (tables, numbered outlines etc.), the topic titles can be distributed on several lines, the topic font size can be adjusted (too small in Ultra Recall), adding links in pages to any topic in any ADM file and many more. This might be strange for some in this group but I like the GUI of ADM.
All what I am writing here is my opinion. Ultra Recall is a very stable and feature rich application and in general it is very impressing what they are delivering with version 1.3b. I do not use it as a power user. I had to install it because of a particular project at 3M. We use it for task and poject management. The most powerful feature of Ultra Recall is Advanced Search. I can imagine to keep Ultra Recall for specfic projects but my main data and knowledge management system will be ADM.
EverNotes:
It is not possibe for me to switch completly from an application like ADM and Ultra Recall to EverNotes. Even EverNotes has some very nice featrue and is very intuitive to use compared to ADM and UC it is very limited. Have you seen what EverNotes prints? It is more or less a screen shot! When I print a text from an outliner I want to have it in a neutral format.
Categorization:

Yes, you are right. One ting of the categarization in EverNote: The you will use it the longer will be the categorization list. Choosing all necessary categories can get a time consuming job. It would be easier to choose them if they were shown in hiearchy.
