Hmm, that’s an interesting idea. No, not a law forcing them to, but if there were some tangible value to freeing old software, perhaps more companies would do so.

Part of the problem is that even though it might not be possible to sell Draw on the market today, it’s clearly a program that’s worth something, so it’s hard to give it away for free.

And it might not work quite right on today’s machines, which makes the original publisher look bad.
