Hi, Graham,
I was the one who referenced Liquid Story Binder on the Zoot forum. I have been intrigued with it since first stumbling upon it a few months ago. I haven’t purchased it yet, but most likely will. For me, the most important aspect of any program to actually write in is the editor itself. Most specifically, I feel most comfortable with an editor that features nimble extended selection (double-clicking to select words, triple-clicking to select paragraphs, and sweeping the mouse on the final click to gobble up other words an paragraphs), because I do a lot of re-writing, re-organizing on the fly. I’ve found that most programs, as they add functions (such as tables and other sophisticated formatting options) lose this nimble editing. LSB, I’m happy to say, isn’t one of those. The editor is graceful.
The ability to organize writing projects is clever in LSB. I am not as convinced that the lists and notes functions are all that useful, especially since most of us are used to much more sophisticated programs to handle those tasks. The editor does not handle formulas or footnotes.
I haven’t tested the program enough to know if it ever experiences melt-downs or data loss.
Steve Z.
