>Am I missing something? While it is true that many PIMs do not have the capability of having more than one window open, most will allow one to open a second “copy” of the running program with either the same file that is running in the first “copy” of the program (but in read-only mode) or with another file open. - Steve Cohen
In my experience, very few allow a copy of a program to open the _same_ file. In fact, I think I would count such a program as essentially capable of multiple windows. I cannot at the moment think of a single pim that fits this description. More common is the ability to open a different file with the second “copy” of the application.
Generally you want to open a different note in the same database—at least that’s true for me. The reason that opening a different *file* doesn’t solve the problem is that usually the database, not a note, instantiates a ‘file.’
