Am I missing something? While it is true that many PIMs do not have the capability of having more than one window open, most will allow one to open a second “copy” of the running program with either the same file that is running in the first “copy” of the program (but in read-only mode) or with another file open.
Here is what I do. (Probably everyone already knows this.) If an attempt to open a second copy of the program is “not allowed,” I put the mouse pointer over the file I wish to open and highlight the file name. Then (Win 98SE method) I hold down the shift key and click the right mouse button. A dialog box opens. Usually this box contains an “Open with” option. I select the “Open with” option, which opens a second dialog box containing a list of programs. I then select the PIM program I want and a second instance of the program is loaded. Usually this works.
