Files in fomats of defunct PIMS & older versions

This topic appears once in a while. Having just encountered the problem...again, perhaps some interchange is worthwhile. From my own experience, I note the following:

>> a. What is the likelihood of its longevity? InfoSelect and TreePad appear to be good candidates. Any others?
>> b. Can it export to a "standard" format?
>> c. If a new version of the PIM has a new file format, can it open files in the older format? Can it open files in formats 2 or 3 versions ago?
